Just Stuff...

*Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.*

Ralph Waldo Emerson

*Life moves on, whether we act as cowards or heroes.
Life has no other discipline to impose, if we would but realize it, than to accept life unquestioningly.
Everything we shut our eyes to, everything we run away from, everything we deny, denigrate, or despise, serves to defeat us in the end.
What seems nasty, painful, evil, can become a source of beauty, joy, and strength, if faced with an open mind.
Every moment is a golden one for him [or her] who has the vision to recognize it as such.*

Henry Miller

*Every action of our lives touches some chord that will vibrate in eternity.*

Edwin Hubbel Chapin

These words belong in the pantheon of truth Pam.

Exactly.... the only constant is change.

I long to wiggle my toes in the warm sand, soaking in the heat and reflecting on life.

Alas, we are moving into fall rapidly here and the cold is steadily approaching.

Miller's words speak the truth. Sometimes we are just too caught up in our emotions to see this. Pain and suffering also comes tempered with joy and beauty if we would take the time to look for it. Beautiful post Pam.

Those are all good quotes to keep in mind and great shots. I can feel the sand between my toes.

I come here as a respite from everything dreary. These are wonderful quotes and pictures, and I leave reluctantly but refreshed.

Thank you, Pam!

Henry Miller said that?

I recall in the bad old days he would have written something like
"F-You", a novel, by Henry Miller.

I guess he was an author after all

Deep relaxing thoughts...
back here it is almost Autumn..
the leaves on the trees really turned yellow last night...
one of these nights we will see Jack Frost..
which can't happen soon enough because this last batch of mean tiny mosquitos is driving me mad!

Enjoy your Spring and languish in the new beginnings, it is the best day of the year.

I should think that were I ever fortunate enough again to rejuvenate my soul in such splendid surf and sand..
that I should never leave...
especially if the local fashions eschew restrictive upperware upon the curvatures of the fairer sex.

Good gawd, Lord T! Just spit it out already - you want to take up permanent residence on a topless beach already. All that hoity toity English .... pshaw with it all! Just say what you need to say....

But I'll tell ya - I wouldn't mind living in a place like that either. I hate the restrictive fashions we with the curvatures are saddled with. (Guess you can tell I ain't shy, eh!)

You live in a place most wondrous and beautiful.

So do i, of course, but yours is so different than mine. Someday, someday....

Hah! Change. I am more familiar with that word than any. Wonderful photographs ... so much beauty.

Instead of letting my soul be uplifted, as that is a hard, painful thing, I quickly think, 'yeah, well, Emerson was a douche.'

The good news is I recognize that is the wrong thing to think.

Beautiful blog.

Hi Pam,

I thought I'd pop over and let you know that you were correct about James Taylor. He grew up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina the town where the botanical garden I featured is located. He wrote a song called Carolina in my Mind and mentioned Carolina in several other songs. I live in Raleigh which is about 38 miles from Chapel Hill but Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill are all one fairly connected area since they are close. Lucky for me each has large universities with large gardens to spend time in. Take care, Carver
